2008 Spring Board Meeting Completed It’s zero degrees outside but inside the Men’s Association Board has lit the fire for the 2008 season. This newsletter will cover what was discussed at the metting, rules changes, and the agenda for 2008. 2008 Tournaments Tuesday tournaments will happen every week with 9 and 18 hole gross and net flighted competitions and gross skins. You may play any time on Tuesday and we do require that you play with another club member or someone from the pro shop. This is a Tuesday league. Please don’t ask if you can play on Monday or any other day.
Each month there will be one random “fun” tournament format such as a one man scramble. Tee Format Handicap Tee

14+ White New Handicap Format
Player handicaps will be calculated based on the five previous nine hole rounds played. The best and worst score will be thrown out and the average of the three remaining scores will be the player’s handicap.
New for 2008, handicaps will be "dynamically" calculated after each round! Be sure to check your handicap in the HCP column of the previous round results before you play your rounds, to insure you’re playing from the proper tee.
New players will start the league with an estimated handicap. If an estimated handicap is not written on the signup sheet, the player will start out as a zero.

8-man regular and senior teams
We’ve managed to successfully run a senior 8-man team and this year we’re going to get a regular 8-man team happening as well. Contact Tony at 572-3472 or Guy in the RO pro shop at 568-4653 if you are a low handicap player and would like to play on the 8-man team.
Golf Rules
We’d like to clarify that the River Oaks Men’s Association plays by the rules of golf! There is NO such thing as a “gimme” or a “mulligan.” Please finish out all holes by “putting out” or you will be disqualified.
There are a lot of lateral hazards and OB areas on the course so please study up on the proper drop area for your errant shots! If there is confusion as to how to proceed in a particular situation, play two balls and finish the hole. Then check with Guy Lester (pro shop) or Tony Korologos regarding the decision.
Score cards must be properly scored, signed and attested. Scorecards must be printed CLEARLY! Unreadable scorecards or scorecards with incomplete names (i.e. “Bob”), and incorrect scorecards will be disqualified.
All ruling decisions made by the men’s club board are final. No whining or snivelling will be allowed!
Match Play Tournament
There will be a match play competition for 2008. The schedule is on page 2 of this flyer. The bracket will be limited to 16 players and a $10 entry fee will be charged. The match play winner will receive prize money and a trophy at the end of the season.
Match play for 2008 cancelled due to lack of interest Club Championship
For 2008 the new club championship format will be as follows: Two flites: Gross & Net
Two 18 hole rounds.
Gross (champ) flite will be gross score and play from the black tees.
Net flite will be net only and play from white tees. Club champ 18 hole round 1: Tuesday, August 19th
Club champ 18 hole round 2: Saturday, August 23rd (please make tee times for round two) To be eligible for the club championship, a player must post a minimum of FIVE Tuesday league scores.
