2007 Men's Club Spring Board Meeting Completed It’s zero degrees outside but inside the Men’s Association Board has lit the fire for the 2007 season. This newsletter will cover what was discussed at the metting, rules changes, and the agenda for 2007. 2007 Tournament Schedule The 2007 Tournament and Club Championship schedule is on the back of this newsletter. During the board meeting we decided we were not going to try to do any more weekend tournaments due to lack of response over the last two years of trying them. Tuesday tournaments will happen every week with 9 and 18 hole gross and net flighted competitions and gross skins. You may play any time on Tuesday and we do require that you play with another club member or someone from the pro shop. This is a Tuesday league. Please don’t ask if you can play on Monday or any other day. Each month there will be one random “fun” tournament format such as a one man scramble. New Tee Format After listening to many club members’ suggestions, and seeing many low handicappers shooting 31’s and 32’s with regularity, we’ve decided to revamp the tee situation as follows: Handicap Tee 0-5.9 Black 6-13.9 Blue 14+ White Handicaps Handicaps will be updated once per month and posted on the men’s bulletin board and the web site. Be sure to check your handicap before you play your rounds to insure you’re playing from the proper tee. New players will start the league with an estimated handicap. New Club Web Site
For 2007 the club web site will no longer be at www.webcountryclub.com. The new location is at the new unofficial River Oaks web page:
http://riveroaks.thegolfspace.com
The new site will have all the league information such as scores, schedules, handicaps, contact info and more.
8-man regular and senior teams
We’ve managed to successfully run a senior 8-man team and this year we’re going to get a regular 8-man team happening as well. Contact Tony at 572-3472 or Guy in the RO pro shop at 568-4653 if you are a low handicap player and would like to play on the 8-man team.
Golf Rules
We’d like to clarify that the River Oaks Men’s Association plays by the rules of golf! There is NO such thing as a “gimme” or a “mulligan.” Please finish out all holes by putting out or you will be disqualified.
There are a lot of lateral hazards and OB areas on the course so please study up on the proper drop area for your errant shots! If there is confusion as to how to proceed in a particular situation, play two balls and finish the hole. Then check with Guy Lester or Tony Korologos regarding the decision.
Score cards must be properly scored, signed and attested. Players turning in incorrect score cards will be disqualified. must be printed CLEARLY! Unreadable scorecards will be disqualified.
All ruling decisions made by the men’s club board are final.
Club Championship
The club championship season long match play will begin May first and end August 31st. See back for full schedule. Players are responsible for arranging their matches. Players who don’t respond to the requests of their opponents to play will lose by default.
